The Trail Masons are proud to announce our newest event sponsor.

Mountain Hardwear has donated a Twin Arch tent (two person, three season) that will be raffled off at the National Trails Day event on June 19th during the lunch break.

Quick and easy to pitch with freestanding design and guaranteed watertight. This two person tent features generous headroom, large single door, and a dry entry vestibule to stow gear. Color coded poles and grommet tabs and reflective starter points make even late-night set up easy. Superlight option: pitch with fly and Pitch Lightâ„¢ footprint to shave pounds.

Many thanks to the volunteers that braved the rain to work on the trails this past Saturday, March 27th. We had 10 folks show up to help clear corridor on the leg back towards the Boy Scout area. It started out with rain showers for the first hour but eventually stopped. We were able to clear about 1/3 mile of new trail corridor. This area will need a lot of bench cutting so come back often for information on other up coming work days.

Despite the weather, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.... especially the pizza (compliments of YMG) and the beverages (compliments of BHC Rhodes) afterwards at Pizza Stop.

On Saturday March 20th, five of our Board Members attended a trail building seminar sponsored by the Earth Riders Trail Association. The course was taught by the IMBA Subaru Trail Crew. The course focused on building sustainable trails per the IMBA's "Trail Solution Manual." Unfortunately there was too much snow for us to go out and practice some of the techniques taught in the class. It was an informative seminar and we all learned something that we will be able to put to use at WyCo.

Wyandotte County Parks & Recreation entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on November 20th, 2009 with the Trail Masons Association. This MOU documents that the Trail Masons are allowed to develop, build and maintain bridle, hiking and mountain biking trails at Wyandotte County Lake Park. This is a very big deal for both the UGWC and the Trail Masons. This MOU is in affect for the next five years with the option of renewal at that time. Please watch for more workday announcements and updates on our progress. This is a great opportunity for sustainable trails in Kansas City, KS. Come out sometime, check out the new trails and join us on a workday or two. You'll be amazed at the difference between the new and old.......
